When will Lubbock officially become deregulated?
Lubbock will become deregulated on March 4, 2024. Starting January 5, 2024, Lubbock Power & Light Customers will be able to shop for a new retail electricity provider (REP). Customers who have not signed up with a new retail electricity provider (REP) by the time of deregulation will automatically be enrolled in a plan with a default provider. If you decide to sign up for an affordable plan with Discount Power after that time, you can switch at any time.
What will Lubbock Power & Light be responsible for after deregulation?
After deregulation, Lubbock Power & Light will still be the company that transports and delivers your electricity and maintains your electrical equipment. You will call them to report an outage, a fallen pole or wire or a problem with your meter.
What will Discount Power be responsible for after deregulation?
If you sign up for an affordable plan with Discount Power, we’ll be responsible for powering your home or business. We’ll send you your bill, process your payments and help you with any questions you have about your electricity service. If you move to another area that we serve, we will also help transfer your service to your new address.
What is a fixed-rate plan?
Fixed-rate plans have a locked-in rate for the entire term of your plan. While utility charges may fluctuate, your rate will stay the same each month. We offer fixed-rate terms that range from 12 to 36 months, with budget-friendly pricing you can lock in for the long term.
What is a variable-rate plan?
Variable-rate plans are month-to-month electricity plans that provide more flexibility. We offer variable-rate, month-to-month contracts with no cancellation fees.
Will my electricity service be interrupted when I switch?
No. Choose an electricity plan, and we’ll make sure your service transitions with no interruptions.
Who will send me my electricity bill?
Your bill will come straight from us. You can either choose to receive it by mail or enroll in Paperless Billing to get your bill through email. Log into My Account to sign up.
How do I pay my Discount Power bill?
With Discount Power, you can pay your bill through the Discount Power app, online by registering for My Account or by phone at 1-877-455-4674. You can also sign up for Automatic Payment to pay your monthly bill automatically from your bank or credit card – so you never miss a payment. Log into My Account to sign up!
Can I transfer my Discount Power service if I move?
If you’re moving, you can transfer your service to a new address as long as we provide service to that area. Just enter your ZIP code here to see which plans are available at your new address. When you transfer service, we’ll help you make sure your service is never interrupted.
