How do I qualify for the Wise Buy Solar Credit plan?
To qualify, you must:
  • Have a home solar panel system with a rated capacity of less than 50 kW.
  • Have an Interconnection Agreement in place with your utility.
  • Have a meter installed by your utility that separately measures the inflow and outflow of electricity.
Are there any limits on the amount of excess energy I can sell back?
No, there are no caps on the amount of excess energy you can sell back. You receive credit for all the excess energy your system delivers to the grid.
How do I receive credits for excess solar energy?
When your solar panels produce more energy than you use, the excess energy is delivered to the grid, and you receive a credit for it on your bill.
What is the buyback rate for excess solar generation?
The buyback rate is lower than the energy charge for usage from the grid, as specified in your Electricity Facts Label (EFL).
What charges are included in the credits for excess energy?
The credits do not include the monthly base charge, delivery charges from the utility, applicable taxes, fees, or other charges. These are billed separately on your invoice.
How long does it take to start receiving credits for new solar systems?
Credits for excess energy may take up to 3 billing cycles to appear on your bill.
What happens if my credits exceed my monthly charges?
If your credits exceed your charges on your monthly invoice, the remaining credits will carry forward to the next month. If you leave the company while having a credit balance, we will send you a refund check for the outstanding credit amount.
Can I track my excess energy production and credits?
Yes, you can track your excess energy production and credits on your monthly bill, which shows the excess energy delivered to the grid and your credit amount.
How do I calculate my credit amount?
Your credit amount is calculated using the formula: Credit amount = (Buyback rate in $/kWh) x (Excess energy delivered to the grid in kWh). The buyback rate is detailed in your Electricity Facts Label (EFL).

*Excess energy credits will be exclusive of TDU Delivery Charges, any monthly base charge, applicable taxes and fees, or other charges (such as late fees, special meter reading fees, and fees related to disconnection or connection of service).

Excess energy credits are non-transferrable.

If the customer’s account is active, they are not eligible to receive a credit balance refund. If a customer closes their account, any buyback credits will first be applied to any outstanding amounts owed to Discount Power and any remaining credit amount will be refunded.
